✍️ Signatures [Issue Panel]

The Digital Signatures Panel is a Jira issue panel that collects legally defensible electronic signatures from designated signatories. Supports multi-slot signing, invitation workflows, and automatic issue transitions.

Administrator Configuration

  1. Open any Jira issue

  2. Locate "Signatures" panel under issue key “…”

Invite Signatories

Global Invites – Any invited user can sign any slot
Slot-Specific Invites – Assign specific users to specific slots
Per-Slot Titles – Customize signature topic per slot

Auto-Transition Workflow

  • Select a Jira workflow transition

  • When ALL slots signed → Issue auto-transitions

  • Comment posted: "All required signatures completed"

Use case

Signing a Document

  1. Open Jira issue with Signatures panel

  2. Click + Invite or + Click to invite to add signee user.

    When sending out the invite, it’s possible to configure the Signature Topic / Role or content by customizing, and the invited user can be searchable.

Signature options:

  • ✨ Saved Signature – One-click with saved default

  • 🖌️ Draw New – Mouse/touch on canvas

  • ⌨️ Type New – 6 cursive fonts

  • ❌ Decline to Sign – Record refusal with reason

  1. Click "Sign Document" → Signature recorded

Viewing Signatures

  • Modern Card – Signature preview, signer name, timestamp, checkmark ✅

  • Traditional – Left side signature, right side date

  • Click any signed slot → Verification Modal with full details

Receiving an Invitation

  • Jira comment mentions you → Click link

  • Signature slot becomes active (pulsing "+")

  • Only invited users can sign (if slot-specific)

Saved Signature

  1. Sign once using Draw or Type

  2. Check "Save as default"

  3. Future documents → "Quick Sign Now" one-click

Workflow Validator

Add to any transition:

Jira Admin → Workflows → Edit → Add validator → "Digital Signature Validator"

Behavior

  • Blocks transition if any required signature missing/declined

  • Error: "X of Y signatures completed"
